NFB doc content to be featured on Chinese online Channel Phoenix

The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) has linked up with Phoenix New Media Limited (FENG) to deliver a Canadian-branded online channel in China, NFB Zone, which will feature animated and documentary films for streaming, VOD and download-to-own. NFB ZONE will be the first digital channel designated to distribute Canadian content in Mainland China.

Under the agreement, ifeng has the exclusive right to air and redistribute NFB’s current content library of over 130 documentaries and animated films which will be updated regularly over the next three years. Beginning in late June 2012, the entire portfolio will be made available for both on-demand viewing and downloading on ifeng’s NFB ZONE channel.

Across its range of platforms and portals, FENG garners around 300 million page views each day. Last year FENG signed a similar deal with the BBC.
