“My Chinese Acquaintances” won the doc Gold Remi Award at Houston Int`l Film Festival

5 documentaries from or about Asia won a number of top prizes at the 45th Houston International Film Festival on Saturday 21th April 2012. 

Among them, “My Chinese Acquaintances” snatched the Gold Remi Award for documentaries. This doc was directed by Andrew Lone and Shen Xiaomin and produced by Yuezhong Film & TV Co (Shenzhen,China). The film already won the History & Biograghy Documentary Silver Award at 17th Shanghai International Film Festival, in June 2011. See the film page on ADN DOC DATABASE

. Silver Remi for “THANGKA” (Weijun Peng, YUEZHONG FILM & TV / China)

. Silver Remi for “TINAR” (Ali Ghasemi, Visual Film Institute, Iran)

. Gold Remi for “HE FILM” (Liliane de Kermadec, France)

. Gold Remi for “A year in the Clouds” (Sophie Yang, Public TV Service PTS, Taiwan)

The Houston International Film Festival, founded in 1961, is one of the three competitive international film festivals in North America, together with San Francisco and New York.

It is also the oldest independent film and video festival in the world. This year`s festival, which began on April 13, received about 4,000 entries from around the world.
