Many European docs at the 2nd edition of iDocs Beijing Forum

The second edition of iDocs Beijing International Forum will happen from 12 to 16 December 2010.


This festival and forum is organized by Channel Zero Media, one of the major documentary  distribution and production company in mainland China..

As explained by its organizers, “iDocs International Documentary Forum is an officially permitted documentary platform, aimed at the distribution and communication of documentaries, which is supported by the most authoritative international documentary organization: International Documentary Festival Amsterdam (IDFA).”

“The letter “i” of the “iDOCS” stands for “international”, “individual” and “love” (due to the similar pronunciation with love in Chinese), and the name of “iDOCS” expresses a deep love for the excellent documentaries and hope to spread the love and warmth with the inspirational documentary films. The slogan of “iDOCS” is “New Views, Better World”, which conveys the objective of the organizers about spreading with open, multiple, bright and constructive vision.”

The second edition of iDocs

The first iDOCS International Documentary Forum” was held in Beijing Film Academy, in December 2009.

800  attended the opening ceremony, 6000 joined  the screenings and nearly 200 participated in the various seminars and master workshops. It received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the audience,  international guests and extensive media coverage.

2010 edition

The theme of the 2010 edition is “Open Eyes” and the objectives of iDocs remain the same :

. giving the Chinese documentary film makers an in-depth understanding on the current situation and the environment of the international documentary industry

. Sharing the first-class documentaries with the Chinese audience

. Offering a platform for communication among documentary masters

. Discussing about the domestic documentaries’ incorporation into the world documentary industry.


From Screenings ….

20 international docs will be screened during the  days festival.

These films come from Australia (“A Good Man”, “The Burning Season”, “The Man Who Stole My Mother’s Face”, “Presumed Guilty”), Austria (“Pianomania”), France (“Home”, “Nénette”), Netherlands (“The Player”, “Buddha’s Lost Children”), Sweden (“The Swindler”, “The Substitute”), Taiwan (“YOUNG AT HEART: Grandma Cheerleaders”, “Spring: The Story of Hsu Chin-Yu”), UK (“Hold Me Tight Let Me Go”, “English Surgeon”), USA (“Trouble the Water”, “Burning the Future: Coal in America”, “Racing Dream”, “Wo Ai Ni Mommy”, “No Crossover: The Trial of Allen Iverson”).
